A group of students helped raise over £180 for MacMillan on Friday morning by hosting their very own cake sale during their school break and lunch time, as part of the charities “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.”
Sedgefield Community College year nine students Jacob Taylor, Alex Taylor and Dylan Swinburn took charge of organising the event, which saw staff and students bake and donate a multitude of sweet treats.
In just two small sales windows, the boys sold almost 400 cakes, doughnuts and biscuits, as students flocked to support the cancer support charity.
Charity coordinator for the school, Paul McGeary praised the trio, saying, “The boys deserve the utmost recognition for their vision, organisation and facilitation of the event. Requiring little assistance from staff, the boys have shown great maturity and dedication to making a success of the event.
“Alongside our other charity partnerships, namely Children in Need, Comic Relief and Cancer Research, we are proud to support MacMillan and their global event. The students at Sedgefield Community College always embrace our charitable work, which is testament to their values.”
