Following an assessment process completed during the Autumn term we are proud to announce that Sedgefield Community College has achieved the national ‘World Class School’ quality mark.
The quality mark is only awarded to non-selective state schools that offer the best education to young people in the UK. To achieve the award students are assessed against a framework of skills and competencies that it is considered young people need to flourish in an emerging global economy.
Throughout the assessment process students had to show considerable independence, creativity and the ability to function as an effective team as well as the ability to deliver quality outcomes. This ultimately led to us being recognised as a school that can not only deliver outstanding academic outcomes but also develop its students in many other ways, and therefore be described as a school that is “the best of the best”.
We are thrilled that this award provides parents and carers with yet another illustration of the exemplary education provided at Sedgefield Community College as well as the confidence that their children are being provided with the best possible educational experience. The fact that so few schools in the North have managed to meet the standards required to achieve this award demonstrates the magnitude of this achievement and the quality of what goes on at Sedgefield.
Congratulations to staff and students on this notable achievement.
