Careers Education Information And Guidance (CEIAG)

The careers area of the school is now looked after by the IAG coordinator Mr John Davison. This mainly relates to the Upper School pupils in years 10 and 11, although it is hoped to provide careers opportunities throughout the school with visits from the Armed Forces and Training Providers working with pupils across all age ranges.

Four providers of careers information work closely with the school:-

1) The connexions teams with its school representatives of Lesley Jacobs and Carole Chapman interview all pupils and advise on courses available.

2) Aim Higher - Groups of students are targeted and work with mentors getting the opportunity to visit Liverpool, Oxford, and Cambridge University to get a taste of university life.

3) Durham education business partnership work closely with the school to ensure that all year 10 have a meaningful work experience week in July of year 10.

4) South West Durham Training provide information on apprenticeships especially engineering for pupils looking to enter that sector of employment.
